A valid passport, your CAS from a licensed student sponsor, academic transcripts, IELTS UKVI or an accepted alternative, financial evidence held for 28 days, and a tuberculosis test certificate from an IOM-approved clinic in Dhaka. Two things apply. For the visa, degree-level study requires CEFR B2 in all four skills. For admission, universities usually ask for IELTS UKVI 6.0–6.5 overall, rising to 7.0+ for law, medicine and the most competitive courses. If you fall just short, a pre-sessional English course at the same university is often the cleanest fix.

First-year tuition, less any deposit already paid, plus living costs for up to nine months. The monthly living-cost threshold is set higher for London than for the rest of the UK and is revised periodically, so confirm the current figure on GOV.UK before you apply. The strict part is the 28-day rule: the full amount must sit in the account for 28 consecutive days, and the closing balance must be dated within 31 days of your application.

The September (Autumn) intake is the main one by a wide margin — almost every course runs, and scholarship rounds are open. Start about 12 months ahead. January is a genuine second option with a decent course list. May is limited to a handful of programmes at a small number of universities.

Only for certain courses. Since January 2024, dependants may accompany PhD and other research postgraduate students, and government-sponsored students. If you are doing a taught master's or an undergraduate degree, you cannot bring a spouse or children. Where dependants are allowed, they do get full, unrestricted work rights — which is better than the US F-2 position.

Standard processing runs around three weeks from your biometrics appointment, and a priority service is available at extra cost. The queue lengthens sharply in July and August, so aim to apply as soon as your CAS is issued rather than close to your course start date.

The Graduate Route lets you stay and work in the UK after your degree with no job offer and no employer sponsorship. It currently runs two years for bachelor's and master's graduates and three for PhDs. From 1 January 2027 the bachelor's and master's allowance drops to 18 months, so if you are finishing in 2026 it is worth applying before 31 December to keep the full two years. You must apply from inside the UK, and it cannot be extended.

It is possible, and unlike the US there is no lottery involved. The usual path is Graduate Route, then a Skilled Worker visa with a licensed employer, then Indefinite Leave to Remain after a qualifying period. What it does require is an employer willing to sponsor you and a role that meets the salary threshold, so your field and your job search matter a great deal.

Yes. Chevening is the flagship UK government award for master's study and is open to Bangladeshi applicants, alongside Commonwealth Scholarships. Almost every university also runs its own international merit awards, typically a partial tuition discount of 10–50%. UK funding tends to be less generous than US assistantships, so we plan around a realistic contribution rather than full coverage.

The UK's strongest card is speed: a one-year master's means one year of fees and living costs instead of two, and you start working sooner. It also has the shortest, simplest visa process of the three. Against that, the Graduate Route is shorter than Canada's post-study permit and is shortening further in 2027, and settlement depends on finding a sponsoring employer.
